Some Excavation Required
DMZ, Korean Peninsula
PARTNERS Austin Griffis & Keshav Ramaswami
As long as Korea is divided this chamber will remain undisturbed. Lying in the most militarized and naturally preserved areas of the world it is sealed under a concrete cap two meters thick, below a shallow pond. Its origin and location remain a mystery.
Only when these two forces reconcile will this void be unearthed. This great hall will fill with light from above and water will flow into its baths -- coating its ancient stone with a slick organic film. Koreans will pilgrimage to the site, installing technologies of the time to make its waters warm and its space accessible.
